Growing Local is committed to local food resilience through locally and sustainably grown, short-chain-supply fruit and vegetables and are part of a growing global awareness of the need to protect food and seed sovereignty and strengthen resilience through agro-ecological and regenerative practices.
Growing Local follows the principles of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). CSAs are a partnership between those who eat the food and those who grow it to ensure that fresh, local, sustainably grown vegetables are available for the local community. It is an opportunity for everyone to invest and share in the production of our local food and enjoy a variety of vegetables through every season. Our vegetables are grown in outdoor field areas and undercover in four large polytunnels. We have now planted a separate heritage orchard between the cycle path and railway to grow future fruit and nuts.

Our priority is to look after the soil, sequestering carbon and enriching soil life through cover crops, mixed cropping, mulching and minimal tillage. We have increased plant cover and wildlife corridors by planting up to 4,000 shrubs, hedgerow, coppice, fruit and standard trees for pollinators and natural predators. ‘Natural’ areas within the site will be left to encourage hedgehogs, amphibians, insects, birds, bees and butterflies to predate on pests and pollinate our fruit and vegetables.
